Britney and Liz | Treetop Terrace Wedding at First Flight in Key West

Brides embrace each other at Mallory Square for sunset wedding photography

It was in June 2023 that Britney and Liz were taking a relaxing walk through Capri, Italy. The couple enjoyed traveling together so it started as a day of exploring and taking in the sights and ambiance of a foreign destination as they had done before. By the end of the day, however, they would remember it for much more than just another walk though a beautiful city. It’s where they got engaged and started a fresh journey that would ultimately lead them to Key West, Florida for their wedding at First Flight Island Restaurant and Brewery.

The days leading up to their wedding were full of uncertainty. Hurricane Helene was churning in the Gulf of Mexico with a forecast that would take it directly to their hometown. Would they be able to leave as planned and make it to Key West? Would they be thinking about each other and their special day or would their minds be on the situation back home? Destiny was on their side. Although riding out the hurricane in central Florida was a rough experience, it passed through without damaging their home and they were able to make it to Key West with all their thoughts on each other and their wedding day.

Their wedding day started at The Alligator And The Mermaid bed and breakfast in Old Town. As they were getting ready, we arranged their jewelry, shoes, bouquets and other details for creative photos with their wedding attire. After individual bridal portraits in the unique setting of the bed and breakfast, the brides came together for their first look of each other dressed and ready to commit their lifetimes together. The moment they first saw each other, both brides had full smiles and eyes full of emotion.

The ceremony, watched by dozens of guests, was held in The Treetop Terrace on the second level of First Flight Island Restaurant and Brewery. The Treetop Terrace at First Flight is characteristic of Key West with lush foliage, white walls and fences and an orange-reddish tile that warmly ties it all together.

During cocktail hour, the ceremony area was prepared for dinner and decorated with shells, flowers and white linens. Aside from sneaking away for sunset wedding photos along the Key West harbor’s waterfront piers, the newlyweds spent their evening among friends and family who all enjoyed music, dancing and togetherness to celebrate the start of this beautiful couple’s life together in marriage.
